Social event

For the Social Event, we arranged for a trip to remember in the heart of Romania. We will go on the Wine Road (famous Romanian wine and history along) and admire the beautiful Subcarpathian countryside . Romania is one of the few countries that can take pride in a millennium tradition of viticulture, being a highly appreciated country in this field. Along, we will visit the Dacian farm (Present-day Romania was first inhabited by the Dacians, conquered by the Romans under Trajan in two difficult campaigns at the beginning of the 2nd century AD). It is a trip to remember.

APOGEUM Winery

Located in the heart of the country, in the Dealu Mare region, APOGEUM winery capitalizes on three historical landmarks: a vineyard, a place and a winemaking method unique in Romania. Wine is made here as it was 2000 years ago. Virgil Mandru, the winery’s owner, makes wine in ceramic amphorae using methods known only to him. An event wine, awarded on four continents and placed in the top 1% of the world’s best wines, according to Vivino. APOGEUM Feteasca Neagra has reached its seventh year – the 2017 vintage year.

“Fifteen years ago, when I set out to make the best Feteasca Neagra, people looked at me like a romantic fool. Today I sign with immense joy APOGEUM, a Feteasca Neagra created in the heart of the Great Hill, from a vineyard over 50 years old. It’s a wine I dedicate to the Romanian people, their hidden genius and a little – I admit – my stubbornness.” Virgil Mandru.

Coming from a 50-year-old plantation, located on southern hills, with chalky, poor soil and little rainfall, the Feteasca Neagra grapes give birth to this rare, unique wine – APOGEUM. Production is small, 5-6 tonnes/ha, harvested by hand. The grapes are selected from the vineyard, harvested at the optimal time, carefully transported to the winemaking site. The 24 months while the young Feteasca Neagra rests in barrels, plus the 12 months in the bottle, give it notes of elegant maturity, expressed in an explosion of heady aromas (oak, vanilla, chocolate, coffee), soft, velvety tannins, elements that denote the value of a special, rare wine.

Dacian Farm

If we were to tell you that the paleogeographic map of the Sarmatic sea – formed tens of millions of years before our era, includes in its prehistoric borders and the hills of the Dacian Farm, or that in Năeni-Fințești, there is an archaeological site comprising two Thracian settlements -dacic, of which a fortified one, surely we would not convince you to cross our threshold.

But if I confirm that approx. 40 ha of valleys and hills comforted by the gentle rays of the sun are you available for a treat in nature? … Or if I had the privilege of slicing sweet peppers some ribs cooked in beer, directly on the table top carved into stone with shellfish inserts, extracted from the bottom of the Sarmatic sea – dried several million years ago? Or if you simply receive the official status of Dacians and the right to nest your deep sleep in Dacian huts built with traditional methods and materials of old?!? …

For the above reasons, out of love for nature and traditional gastronomy, in 2013 we set up the Dacian Farm, thought of as a project, and for the family. Fortunately for the extended Dacian family of today, we have wrongly sized the project, thus being able to have people at a feast, over 150 Dacians. And because our inviting guests invite you to a solid siesta, I have kindly and carefully provided details for you, 21 rooms, 4 suspended cabins and 4 Dacian huts (underway).

The Dacian farm has in time become a place of story, where the past reaches the present only to remind us, from time to time, that the ancient values must be carefully preserved and transmitted with pride.
